Stewards

So, you want to be a Steward at Solfest? What can we tell you?

Steward applcations for Solfest 2016 are OPEN.

Important Information

VIP Treatment

All our Stewards benefit from the finest VIP camping area. Well, OK it's the Stewards' Camping field, but it's in a very nice part of the site, with its own access gate, and exclusive to Solfest Crew. Of course, you are free to camp with your friends in one of the other camping areas (if you really want to). We also provide meal tickets for the crew catering facility, depending on which shifts you are working.

Age Restrictions

You must be 18 years of age or over on (or before) the first day of the festival - we will ask for your date of birth on your application.

Bringing your Children

If you want to bring your children with you we can arrange for one free child's ticket per steward. This applies only to children of stewards and you will have to make your own arrangements for child care whilst you are working - we are unable to provide creche facilities. You will be asked to provide details when you complete the application form.

Working Email Required

Access to a working email address is vital as most of our communications with you will be by email. The documents you need to get you on site to work your shifts will also be sent via email. If you have worked with us before, please use the same email address so that we can find you on our system.

What do our stewards do?

Traffic Management

The Traffic Management team get everyone into the festival in one piece. You will be working in amongst moving vehicles, and dealing with drivers, cars, caravans and campervans. The work can be tough and demanding, requiring stamina and staying power. Despite this the Traffic Management team places fill up quickly, so don't leave it till the last minute to apply.

You will work two 12 hour shifts over Thursday and Friday, after which your time is your own to enjoy the rest of the festival weekend.

You must be on site no later than 6pm on Wednesday 26th August to attend a briefing that evening.

We also feed you - 2 meals per 12 hour shift.

Weekend Stewards

Our Weekend Stewards are the eyes and ears of the festival, making sure that everyone has a good time, that no-one sneaks in without a ticket, no-one causes trouble, and that no-one is getting into trouble.

You will be involved in everything from checking wristbands and giving directions to the lost, to keeping an eye on the crowds and alerting us if someone needs help. You will be working with festival goers, the security team, the medical crew and the various stage and area crews to ensure that everyone has the best Solfest possible. You'll also get to see a side of the festival that few people get to see.

You will work two 7 hour shifts over the course of the weekend (Friday to Monday) and we'll give you a meal for each shift you work.

You must be on site no later than 5pm on Thursday 27th August to attend a briefing that evening.

If you would like to be a weekend steward but think you might need "child friendly" shifts so that you can keep an eye on your youngsters, let us know and we'll try to arrange it.

Other Times

There are a limited number of places to work a Thursday night shift, followed by a Monday afternoon shift. The shifts are longer than normal weekend shifts, but you do get most of the festival to yourself.

If you are interested please mention this on your application, but remember places are very limited and you are not guaranteed to get these shifts. You will need to be on site early on Thursday.

If you have any further queries about Stewarding at Solfest please contact us or find us on Facebook.
