Acoustic Zone
A communal fire, covered acoustic spaces, organised sessions, singalongs under the stars, a bar selling real ale and two excellent cafes, Acoustic Corner is an oasis of acoustic calm at the heart of Solfest, like a mini-festival in its own right - bring your instruments and voices and be a part of it!

So, remember the old saying, “we ‘ad to mek our own innertainment in my day!” Well, we reckon that’s one of the best bits about a festival – the random connections you make with strangers singing Beatles or Oasis songs or whatever around a campfire. There just aren’t enough opportunities for that kind of thing any more, are there? So this year, we are proud to unveil... Acoustic Corner!
A magical space where being part of the crowd is being part of the entertainment. Led by our wonderful friends the Wierdstring Band aka the Windy Bottom Boys, the small but perfectly formed Melodrome Stage, and a heckle (collective noun) of story-tellers including Solfest regulars Ian Douglas and Gary Bridgens, Acoustic Corner is like that brilliant pub you used to go to where there was always a session going on, everyone’s joining in, and local celebrities pop by to hang out or share a song or a tune.
There will be some special guests on the Melodrome Stage through the day, and through the evening and into the small hours there’ll be a campfire and no amplified music, just good old-fashioned craic. We can’t tell you exactly what will be happening when, because it doesn’t quite work like that. Anything might happen, and it probably will. Anyone might turn up, and they probably will. It might be you! So don’t forget to bring your instruments, polish your stand-up routine, and warm up your voice.
