For 2011 we have the following camping fields available:
We know that at festivals people like to camp with their friends. Unfortunately, camping space is always at a bit of a premium at Solfest and we need to fill our fields sequentially. This means that we cannot allow people to "save" space for their friends. The only certain way to guarantee that you will be camping together is to arrange to meet up a few miles away and travel onto the site in convoy. This is what we recommend that you do. Our stewards are all volunteers and will be working hard to locate you as quickly as possible. Please follow their directions and camp in the areas they direct you to. As keen festival enthusiasts ourselves, we know that if the main entertainment finishes early in the evening, it is all too common for people to return to their own tents and create their own entertainment, often, at the same time disturbing other people who are trying to sleep. To combat this, we aim to keep the main festival area running as late as possible – all be it at a reduced volume, so that those who want to sleep can do so in peace, and those who are not yet ready to drift into slumber can continue to socialise in the dance tent, enjoy a late night pint of “Solfest Ale” in the bar or check out the late night entertainment in the acoustic area. No private sound systems or petrol driven generators will be permitted on site. Please respect people’s right to a good nights sleep, especially if they are camped in the quiet/family camping area, but also please remember that wherever you are camped, it is unreasonable to expect absolute silence all night – it is a music festival after all! All camping facilities will be basic but clean. Toilets will be of the 'portaloo' type and will be professionally cleaned several times a day. Toilets with disabled access will be available - please ask a steard for directions to the nearest one. There will be lighting and fresh water supplied in all camping areas, but it might be an idea to bring your own water container and fill it up last thing at night to avoid queuing at peak times. All camping facilities will be provided and maintained in accordance with the Government HSE guidelines on Event Management, but remember, Solfest is a festival and not a 4* hotel Once again, there will be a very limited number of showers available this year! We do our very best to keep the facilities in tip top condition but if you discover a problem please let one of the stewards know and whilst they might not be able to solve the problem immeidatly you can be certain that a team of 'festival fix it faries' will wing thier way just as soon as they can When entering the festival arena in a vehicle you will need to show a ticket for each of the occupants in the car, failure to do so will mean the traffic stewards will need you to pull over whilst you find them causing you a delay in getting onto the site and begining your festival. So make sure that you don't put your ticket at the bottom of your rucksac but keep it to hand - then you can drive straight on, set up camp and begin the party! As a ticket holder, your vehicle will be permitted on site and you may camp next to your vehicle. If you bring a camper van you may erect a tent or awning next to it. We want you to stay for the duration of Solfest and also for the purposes of safety need to restrict traffic movement around the site. Therefore we request that once parked, people do not move their vehicles except in emergency. If you think you will need to leave the site in your vehicle during the festival, we recommend that you set up camp and then park your car in the "day parking" area, located near the main gate. Please see also "Campsite Safety" below. Once again, we will be running a minibus shuttle service from the train and bus stations in Aspatria on Friday and Monday. This service will be free on production of your Solfest ticket. More details can be found on the Location page. You are welcome to bring your caravan to Solfest at no extra cost! Unlike most festivals, there is no additional charge for camping at Solfest. However, we would ask people to respect the camping area and share lifts where possible. This is in the interest of managing congestion on the site and also limiting the pollution in the environment. If we all work together to ensure the camping area is a success, we can continue with this policy in future years. There is a small charge that we make if you wish to arrive on Thursday evening - this is to cover costs and we do not make a profit on this. Whilst we don't want to lay down too many regulations, in the interest of everyone's comfort and safety there are certain rules that we ask you to observe: Keep Safety Lanes Clear. These are for emergency access and must be kept free. Please follow stewards instructions where these are concerned. Tent or other items that are found to be obstructing them may be carefully moved without notice. No Dogs. At the landowner's request, dogs are not allowed on site. No kites or Chinese lanterns. Beautiful as these are, the site is not suitable for kite flying due to overhead power lines. Also, the use of Chinese lanterns is not allowed. After several incidents last year we have to regretfully ask you to leave these at home. Fire and nylon tents don't mix, and livestock on neighbouring land can be spooked by them. Safe Driving. As mentioned above, we wish to keep on-site driving to a minimum during the festival. If you HAVE to move your vehicle in an emergency, please maintain a walking speed whilst on site and have your hazard/4-way flashers operating. Preferably find a steward to guide you before you move your vehicle. Anyone considered to be driving in a manner that puts others at risk will be asked to park their vehicle in the Day Parking area or even, in extreme circumstances, to leave the site. Other than Authorised site vehicles, no agricultural vehicles will be allowed on site.
