Heart of Ash - Solfest Community Musical 2013

By Solfest HQ, 02 March 2013 – 1 comment

This year's Solfest community musical is going to be a celebration of one of our finest native trees - the Ash tree. We only just found out that Aspatria, the town nearest the festival site, actually is named after 'Ash Patrick', the tree of the fella who drove the snakes out of Ireland. That, added to the fact that Ash die-back is proving such a threat to one of our best-loved native trees, meant there's no better reason to celbrate the Ash tree in 2013. Come and join us on the Drystone Stage for the second instalment of Solfest's tradition of 'community musicals'.

Be part of it...

If you're coming to Solfest, you can learn the material at vocal and instrumental workshops over the Solfest weekend 23rd - 25th August and join us on the Drystone Stage for the performance on Sunday 25th evening.

You can also learn the songs beforehand at Dave Camlin's 'Sing Owt!' community choir which meets in Whitehaven on Mondays 7-9pm, and for the first time this year you can also be part of Ian Douglas the story-teller's new adult theatre group 'Act Up!' which meets at the Kirkgate Centre in Cockermouth.

Join us at The Kirkgate Centre on Saturday 2nd March 8pm for The Drystone Sessions, where we'll be showcasing a few of the songs for this year, and you can also learn them at one-off SingDays at the Kirkgate Centre on 17th March and 27th April.

Everyone welcome! Bring your voice and/or an instrument.

The lyrics and full tracks will be available to download shortly, or you can contact [email protected] if you want to learn the songs beforehand on your own or with friends. We will provide links to the musical scores, rehearsal mixes and single vocal parts for Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass.

Spread the word and join in!

If you'd like any further information please contact Dave Camlin on 07580 078924 / [email protected]
