Workshops for Adults
It’s really difficult to split our workshops into ‘Kids’ and ‘Adults’ as most of the activities that we offer are suitable for everyone to enjoy together (We’ll take this into account when we launch our new website next year) Below are the workshops that we think are most suited to older kids and adults; but please take a look at the Kids Activities page too to find out what we have to offer for all ages…. After ‘Phoning in sick’ last year, the team from Inta Africa will be making it up to us in 2010 with their fabulous African drumming workshops. Don’t worry if you’ve never tried any drumming before or if you struggle to count to three, Mark and his crew will begin with some simple rhythms before working up to a full-on session. Bring your own drum or borrow one of theirs. Continuing the African theme, Zoe Sawane will be joining us again to lead African Dance sessions in the Workshop Tent. The international feel will continue with the return of Justin and Nici’s Merengue Workshops. A fantastic opportunity for even complete beginners to try their feet at this simple yet infectious Dominican dance. Bring a partner or meet one when you get there. We are absolutely thrilled (and really quite excited) to be welcoming Baka Beyond’s very own Su Hart to lead a workshop in the Singing Techniques of the Baka Women. Learn more about ‘Yelli’ singing, vocal and hand clapped rhythm work and the patterns of Baka melodies and calls. Now in her 40th year, international tequila dealer and wise woman of Wasdale, Kerry Wright, will be leading her morning ‘Come Tai Chi With Me’ sessions. Try Tai Chi for the first time or stand on one leg with the other Tai Chi converts in a supportive atmosphere. Maureen Morano will have a selection of her beautiful rag rugs on display and be leading drop-in workshops on the art of rag-rug making. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines elements of martial arts, music and dance. Come and try capoeira for yourself or just enjoy the spectacle as Greg and his team perform around the site. Zumba turns up the heat by combining sexy latin dance styles such as Cumbia, Salsa, Reggaeton, and Samba with fun and easy to follow exercise movements. Zumba is currently taking the country by storm – come and try it yourself with the team from Zumba Cumbria! Walkabout ArtistsLots of varied "walkabout" acts are booked to perform and provide entertainment throughout the arena, interacting with people of all ages and with such an array or performers this year, we're sure there's something you'll enjoy.
