About Us

Solfest is a music and arts festival that in 2013 celebrated its tenth year!  It is a completely independent family friendly event that is ran by volunteers all of whom are dedicated to providing a friendly, happy, relaxed event - where all generations of people can come together to enjoy each other’s company, take in the beautiful surroundings and listen to some fantastic music from all around the world.

History

People do things for all sorts of strange reasons. When we first conceived Solfest back in the summer of 2003, our aim was very simple; we wanted to create the sort of festival we thought that we would like to go to ourselves. We were all tired and disillusioned by mainstream corporate events, structured around commercial greed, which had lost sight of any notion of “community”. The plan was to create a festival where the punter came first. Not necessarily a big festival, but certainly a good one.

The Solfest experience

We know that no matter how great a headline band is, they are only on stage for a couple of hours, whereas you are on site for a whole weekend. Because of this we want every bit of your Solfest experience to be just how it should be from the moment you first decide to come and party with us. This includes buying your tickets, arriving on site, getting camped up, finding your way around, right the way through to the point where you pack up and leave, hopefully taking everything that you brought with you, together with a load of wonderful memories.

Our beliefs

Solfest has always been run by volunteers as a not-for-profit event and every penny of the takings gets reinvested back into the festival. This commitment ensures that we will always remain true to our original plan of nine years ago, to provide you with exactly the sort of event that we would like to go to ourselves.

We listen to the wide and varied feedback that people who have been to Solfest offer us after each event and try to implement as many of your suggestions as we can.

We also believe that nothing can beat a personal touch. To this end we organise the whole event ourselves from picking the line-up to sourcing the traders and hand-picking our stewards and everything in between. We feel that this extra effort helps keep the festivals ‘local’ feel but brings you an event on a national scale.

It’s how it should be.
